What's New as of 11 December, 2011
To all my friends and fans out there, here's the latest news:
Are you excited yet?
Bioware is realeasing a music track per day from the TOR soundtrack on their Facebook page and their YouTube Channel. They'll also eventually have the entire score archived on their website.
Sith Inquisitor's a character class I'll be definately experimenting with. This trailer kicks off with one of my action pieces. Enjoy!
Join Pyramind Online and get access to a great community for social networking, tons of video content including my master class from February of this year. Use my promotion code: LM2011 for a discount!
I was contacted awhile back by the folks at VIA Technologies, asking if they could include my Enrico accordion music server in an ebook celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the mini-ITX form factor motherboard. Co-designer Jim Wiggings and I loved the idea and the book is now out. You can find it here.
I recently did an interview for SquareEnixMusic.com where I was asked about recent projects like TOR, KDA, and Halo Anniversary, along with older projects like Outcast, Dragonshard, War of the Ring and even some of the original arrangements I did for Video Games Live.
The interviewer, Chris, asked really in-depth questions. Probably one of the most well-researched interviewers I've ever had.
Several big games I've worked on are coming out in November and December.
TOR is out December 20th! You can pre-order it at places like Gamestop. The basic edition has the game. There's also a collector's edition which includes the Collector's Edition soundtrack and extra swag.
Check this out for a behind-the-scenes look at the music. You'll get to hear from all the LucasArts composers, principal composer Mark Griskey, audio designer Scott Morton, contractor Janet Ketchum and concertmaster Jeremy Constant. There are a lot of my tracks on this one which you can hear at the following timings: 0:46-1:56, 2:35-3:01 and 4:03-end of video is my Jedi Order theme based on John William's Yoda material.
Here's another one from Gamespot with me and fellow composers Mark Griskey, Gordy Haab and Wilbert Roget II.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, recorded at SkySound for Pyramind Studios and 343 Industries for the Xbox 360 is out! My SkyPrep team and I were deeply involved in transcribing note-for-note the original score by composers Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori. I then collaborated with Pyramind COO/Composer Paul Lipson in re-orchestrating everything for the recording sessions with the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra at the ranch, and with Chanticleer - the Grammy winning men’s vocal ensemble widely considered one of the best in the world. Our goal was to keep the core Halo sound while updating the production and I feel we seriously kicked butt in this regard.
Here's one of the latest videos on the upgraded music for this iconic classic.
Oh, and Marty if your reading this, what an iconic score and legacy you created. Brilliant work, my friend.
Here's the trailer:
Also in stores now is Kinect Disneyland Adventures, recorded at SkySound, which was another awesome project to be involved in. I was honored to be part of an amazing composing team which included Mark Griskey, Peter McConnell, Wataru Hokoyama, Laura Karpman and Paul Lipson. In addition to this, my music prep group, SkyPrep, was very involved in making sure all the parts and orchestrations were on the stands for the tremendous amount of music created for this project.
Here's the release statement direct for KDA from Pyramind Studios.
These two games were such exciting projects. Many thanks to Paul Lipson and Gregory Gordon at Pyramind Studios and Kristofor Mellroth at Microsoft Game Studios for their commitment in making this happen in the bay area with our awesome musicians.
On Feb17th of this year, I gave a 3-hour lecture at Pyramind Studios in San Francisco as part of their Masterclass series. I covered topics like my background, my philosophy and approach to scoring, and the challenges faced when scoring for a franchise like Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Outcast fans!
For those of you who never had a chance to play the original Outcast game I composed in 1997, now's your chance. You can revisit this landmark score I composed way back in the day :)
Here's the link: Outcast at GOG.com
There's a downloadable version that's XP/Vista compatible. Go to Good Old Games and get some.

Next, the AMC Channel website has a new web short that I scored for The Walking Dead. It's an 8-minute short that covers the first half of issue one of the graphic novel series.
I've been collaborating with Pinnacle College's Los Angeles campus on an Audio for Games and Interactive Media curriculum. This is the first program of it's kind in the world and I'm very proud to have had a hand in its development. The 18-month program has already launched to great success so be sure to check it out!
Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers is currently available on Xbox LIVE® Arcade.
Here's some fun footage on how the game is played which includes my music:
I am now an "Award Winning Composer," winning a G.A.N.G. Award for the Watchmen Motion Comic during ceremonies at GDC. Both Music and Sound Design (by Will Storkson) were honored with this award.
All episodes 1 thru 12 are available on iTunes (TV Series) and Amazon.com (Video On Demand).
For the orchestra I used a 50-piece group remote recorded in Prague by orchestra.net and as you can tell from the episodes the music performances have been wonderful.
Thanks always to my agent, Rich Jacobellis at First Artists Management for taking care of me throughout this project.
